On the move

Desert Jems is relocating from the desert southwest to the High Desert area of Oregon soon. I am beyond excited for this change. Stay tuned for more information as I move forward in a new adventure in living and creating soaps, lotions and other goodies!

A new begining

Since my husband passed away I have been fairly busy doing things with the house, making soap and getting a new wholesale account. It hasn't been easy by any stretch of the imagination but I am finding that I can handle pretty much anything that has come my way. It is refreshing in some ways. I did many things on my own or with his help before and now it is just me. I went to Vegas and Laughlin for my birthday with my best friend Jackie, just the two of us, no husbands or boyfriends and it was fun. I go and see my oldest daughter when I can and spend some time. I have taken my grandsons to the movies and just hung out and talked.
Thanksgiving was hard and I have had some rough days since but am working through them.

The love of my life

My husband of 35 years passed away on Saint Patrick's day. I am heartbroken. I will get through it but right now it's very hard.

We had a wonderful trip to Vegas, a few minor glitches with the car air conditioning which isn't cool in over 100 temps but the car ran great and that is all that really matters.

MDA Telethon 2008

This is my daughter Heather and her sons NOah and Sean. Noah has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, The gentleman in red is my Nephew/adopted son Dusty. He has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3.

Vegas Trip

We will be leaving for Las Vegas on Sept 6 for a little R&R. I am hoping to gain some inspiration for new soaps and lotions, as well as ideas for the new catalog.
We have friends there that we have not seen in 18 years. I am so excited about it all!

Make sure you all tune in to the MDA Telethon over Labor day Weekend. Those of you in the Tucson Area will catch my Grandson Noah Spencer who is the Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Arizona. He is one of the reasons I started making handcrafted soaps and lotions.

Getting back in the swing

I have been kind of bummed the last few months, no desire to soap or make anything. Last week I got it all out and started making some soap and a new lotion. It felt good to do it again. I am looking forward to creating a new catalog this week.!!
